You said—”He was never eligible in my mind, and that topic was not permitted to be fully vetted here on FR, so I mostly held my tong, and I would have voted for him had he prevailed despite my core convictions about NBC. An originalist constitutional lawyer who by his own words ‘born on soil to citizen parents’ is ineligible should never have run for the highest office and still expected voters to believe he has any core convictions at all.”

And how could so many FReepers excuse him when he is clearly ineligible as it further opens the door to ‘God knows who’ and erodes American sovereignty?

When he was elected as a Texas senator, reporters dug into his Canadian roots. -—

Both parents had become Canadian citizens.
Both Rafael and Eleanor Cruz were registered to vote in Canada.
Rafael ‘Ted’ Cruz was born to two Canadian citizens on Canadian soil.
Ted is a Natural Born citizen of CANADA only.

The falsehoods declared by his staff are erroneous subterfuge to distract from the facts. Cruz nor his mother directly answered those inquiries. His father would only speak for himself. The Cruz’s are deceivers of the truth and were willing to disregard the constitutional requirements for personal greed and ambition.

By Canadian law: Both Cruz parents were interviewed by two official Alberta provincial enumerators. They swore to their citizenship and residency at within their own home. They stated their ages and employment and produced identification to appear on the official voters roll. It was publicly posted and published, by law.

While it may have taken Ted 18 months to get the Canadian records sealed, the facts remain. They had to have been Canadian citizens. There’s no error. No mistake. The Cruz’s were listed as CANADIAN CITIZENS.

When TED became an American citizen is a mystery. We assume that he applied for a passport his final year in HS. But maybe it came later while working for GWB. When Trump becomes POTUS, he should dig up that file and see what the Cruz’s claimed to grant Ted US citizenship. His dad coveted his Canadian citizenship status for 40 years, so it was not through him. Had to have been the mother. - Faux patriots.

I was a big Cruz supporter,

Now he’s dead to me.

> excuse him when he is clearly ineligible

My take is, he wasn’t Bush, therefore if he gets there we should support him regardless since it was such a nasty issue made opaque by Obummer, and since Ted was the purest conservative since Reagan, or some such rationalization. I’d have gone along only to keep us from the disaster of Hillary. But I would never have liked it. That’s all I care to say about it.

Even better, when Trump becomes POTUS, he should launch MS Publisher on the PC and make a cheesy certificate declaring Ted an “Honorary Citizen of America”.
