To compare Cruz to Reagan is ludicrous. Reagan was charming, charismatic, gracious, attractive, and even his political enemies liked him as a person. Cruz is the exact opposite- polarizing, self centered, smug, oily looking, and mean. Even those who should be natural allies to him spurn him because he's such a slimeball.

Any pundit or commentator who compared this eminently creepy man to Ronald Reagan needs to retire, or check themselves into a mental institution.

I was an early Cruz supporter and thought Trump was Perot 2.0 but Ted lost me after Super Tuesday in his speech that night. I felt the same way as you decribe him. I’ll add a used car salesman or a 2-bit preacher in a cheap suit.
