Scuttlebutt on FoxNews was the opposite, the speech was not vetted by the campaign. That can be spun in opposite directions, one being that the campaign is incompetent for allowing that (it is unheard of, unconventional, risks the convention tenor, etc.); the other way is that it is magnanimous and wise to allow a friend?/foe? the rope to reveal themselves.

I still think that they should not have given him an invitation to speak.
Why give someone a prime time speaking slot when they are not going to endorse.
I have been watching republican conventions since 1992 and this is the first time I have seen something like this.

By now, you have been made aware that TRUMP tweeted he had read the speech two hours before it was given. He also said something like: “Wow. Cruz didn’t live up to his pledge. I read the speech two hours before. No big deal “
