What I meant is that history repeats itself, not go back live that year. It means it reminds me. Do you undertand now?

Thank-you Dr. Ben for saying as I have been saying “time to take America back!”

First, sorry for the late reply.

Next, no, I did not interpret your comments in any idiotically literal way. I am fully aware that we do not posses time machines, thank you very much.

I merely point out that if Trump wins, there will be no return to 1980, either literal or metaphorical. I’ll give the Bushes this: when Jebby said the “era of Reagan is over,” he was right. It’s probably the one point of agreement I have with that Nancy boy.

But let’s distinguish here: when Jebby asserted that the era of Reagan is over, he said it with a hopeful optimism; he meant that the “house of Bush” was ascendant. When I say the era of Reagan is over, I say it with the heaviest of hearts. The era of Reagan is over because the country of Reagan is dying. Piously invoking Reagan’s name and legacy do nothing to obscure this fact. I wish it were otherwise, but I’m convinced that it’s not.

The moral tenor of the American people has changed, and that changes everything. Progressive revolutionaries have occupied all three branches of government, making Congressional elections almost irrelevant. The progressives’ full-court press in education, entertainment, and news reporting has destroyed the American story in the souls of two generations of youth. Combine these facts with the eclipse of religion, and I don’t see that we have any possibility of restoring the America of 1980, or even 1990, much less 1776.

A Trump victory gives us a chance to regroup and start the multi-generational project of cleaning out the Augean stables. I can see our country going through a number of fundamental changes that might involve a new constitutional order in the coming decades. These could very well promote human flourishing and virtue.

The problems we face now are WAY beyond the power of elections, or mere politics, to solve. They are, in my opinion, beyond the unaided efforts of human beings to solve. I’m not saying we should opt out of political action, only that I have no illusions about the efficacy of elections. We should help Trump get elected, but we should pray that God will intervene and guide our course. He really is our only hope now.
