Maybe so. I haven’t had much contact with that culture for several decades.

God had a difficult lesson to teach the Jews here. “I chose you folks, but not because you were such hot shots.”
Christianity was Lesson 2 in the same school, but now with a larger student body and amped up with “And look how much I suffered for you!”
Amazing seems to be too little a word for this kind of grace.
