The urge of Cain comes flooding through such guilt ... by slaying his brother, Cain sought to be accepted since he was the only son left alive then. A Muslim who murders for allah is in the same perspective, doing, working, striving to be acceptable despite his imprisonment.
Now someone comes along with a guaranteed path where you can redeem yourself and also settle some scores, if you have them (San Bernardino, Orlando).
You see this, in a non-lethal context, with Christians. Jesus however only asks that you acknowledge your sinful nature and repent (a difficult but rewarding task).
Wahhabist Islam offers a more proactive approach. Kill others to redeem yourself. Satan couldn't offer a more devious approach. Or perhaps he has.
