Hmm....rewarding states that have closed primaries is a good idea actually. Cruz is entitled to a nomination (he had 8 delegations, last I checked). On the other hand, he is not guaranteed a speaking slot.

That’s not what any of this was about. The rules for next time will be decided in January and after. This was a temper tantrum to make Trump look bad, because they hate Trump more than Hillary.
Close primaries in exchange for primary voting only. Cruz would never agree to rules forbidding caucuses.
