Beautiful Country, or at least it was.
Every Bar, Restaurant and Store we went into had a Photo of Tito on the wall. He was revered.
Unless you were in the Serbia part of Yugoslavia, Tito was not revered. People did not want to have their name put on a dossier in a secret file.
After the Country broke up, and the war was over, my friend got to go read his “dossier”. He was a suspected subversive.
Commies used to come in his coffee bar intimidating folks.
His wife, a Texan, used to get mad, and call him a wimp for not standing up to them. Since they had automatic weapons, I completely understood his meekness.
