Unconfirmed ....
"Unconfirmed Reports Of Gunfire, Explosions Inside Incirlik Airbase - Local Sources"
According to another fellow on another post this afternoon they are no longer any there, but moved elsewhere in Europe some time back- he cited various possible locations - not Turkey.
I don’t think it is something much more than being a staging area for some types of operations, but then again, I am not an Airforce guy, so I don’t know how those things go.
I presume like a lot of Cold War things, it was just expedient, and not expected to be a contested area past whatever some fighter cover could handle.
I guess I am not surprised we had nukes there. I sure hope they aren’t there now.
Twitter is full of bovine you know what. I take anything “breaking news” there with a huge grain of salt.
Kinda hard to see Turkey sitting back quiet while Obama helped Iran go nuclear. There must be some still in Turkey.
But a Facebook post is all we need... The truth is always somewhere in between.

Still there as of much later than the move you refer to.
From a report 10 months ago:
“Incirlik Air Base is the largest nuclear weapons storage site in Europe with 25 underground vaults installed inside as many protective aircraft shelters (PAS) in 1998. Each vault can hold up to four bombs for a maximum total base capacity of 100 bombs. There were 90 B61 nuclear bombs in 2000, or 3-4 bombs per vault. This included 40 bombs earmarked for deliver by Turkish F-16 jets at Balikesir Air Base and Akinci Air Base. There are currently an estimated 50 bombs at the base, or an average of 2-3 bombs in each of the 21 vaults inside the new security perimeter.”
Contacted a HAM that talks to the base guys on a regular basis. They have not been on the air and should be at the half past mark. He added that they have been on the air as typical up until a few hours ago. Could be anything.
LOL, I meant now. Back when, those “some types of operations” were “nuclear raids”.
No big deal!
erdogan thinks that his BFF, hussein, is behind the coup (if there actually was an attempt)?
Reminds me of the Fred Thompson scene ‘Hunt For Red October’, where The Skipper is speaking to his chief about the tangle of US and Russian assets in the Northern Atlantic..

BREAKING: Kerry calls Turkish counterpart Cavusoglu and says the #US had nothing to do with failed military coup”
If it weren’t so serious these clowns would be hilarious...
Hate to go there but any competent NSA employee or Obama staffer could have put that message out ... shows you how much I trust the US Government these days.
Maybe they are conserving generator fuel.
He’s waiting for the newspaper come Monday morning.
Turkey should be considered hostile territory until their elected leader stops blaming the US for trying to overthrow him with a coup. Perhaps John Kerry can take James Taylor to Instanbul to serenade Erdogan. So we need to assume all forms of communications to that hostile territory is compromised. That is what Sun Tzu would do lol.
If stupidity were measured in sand, these guys would be the Sahara.
>>We want to reiterate, Incirlik AFB is where 75-90 B-61 nuclear weapons are held as part of #NATO
Then they won’t need to go very far to deliver their payloads...
Why in the hell would Turkbeard ping Germany first for asylum? His gold/diamonds/shrunken heads are in Bern (and probably HK).
My guess is we finally put up some F16s to remove some nearby threats that had materialized. So maybe the explosions were not technically on the base...wink wink.
