Here’s one good reason the ark is relevant:
God destroyed the earth before because of wickedness, and just be thankful He’s giving people time to repent before He does it again... this time by fire, not by flood.
Our Creator is very resourceful and creative. I’m sure that many ways to realign humankind would be worked out that wouldn’t destroy all the other innocent creatures.
