Don't count it out. Before the 2000 election, the media did flip the colors representing each party. That way every reference to "red" meaning communism, left-leaning governments, etc. in newspapers, books, speeches, etc. became associated with Republican. They must have realized that young people might learn that red is associated with communism. Now they don't know that or even what communism is all about.
