Could flip it to an islamic state? I’d say you can bank on it with a very high probability of success. For right now I’d say it is going to be up the Russians to keep islam at bay if they want to do that. I keep waiting for the calculus of geopolitics to shift and it will. ME oil is becoming less and less important to US and the threat of islam is growing. It almost feels like the camps are being set up for the last battle.
Turkey has had creeping Islamism for 14 years under Erdogan. The scumbag should have been booted by the military there right at the start, but they lost their nerve and the rest was completely predictable. Some of us did predict it at the time, although I didn’t think it would take as long as 14 yrs. But Erdogan has been breaking down barriers and protections against Islamic rule in Turkey for a long time. With the round-ups of thousands of judges and military officers now, Erdogan is well into dictatorship territory.
