I dunno, sounds made up, especially the rationalization about “eating less pork in hot climates” (like they had never heard of cured meats — ham, bacon, etc.).

Well, the article does state that General Pershing wrote about the burial of Mohamedans with pig offal in his autobiography.

That would be easily verifiable.

And don't forget that the time of General Pershing and the burial of Mohamedans with pig offal occurred over 100 years ago.

Everything was much different then - more basic to say the least.

Logistics, values, technology, food preservation, rules of engagement, budgets, the government, the media - everything.

There was no political correctness and wars were fought with the objective of killing the enemy and winning the conflict - not to win the hearts and minds of the enemy.

And yet, we do not have the excuse of failing to pursue a long view.

It is the devil’s delight to oppress us to the point of shortening our views. But even when everything is a dense fog and we do not understand, we can lay our concerns upon God and ask for the right thing to do. Trying to fix the devil’s little red wagon with mere mortal intellect, at best “sets us up the bomb” for the future.

Exactly.

The heart and mind of a dead man is a problem solved.
