Pence is fine, but Trump pretty much told us Newt will be part of his administration when he campaigned with Newt in OH. Will be very disappointed if Trump has nothing for Newt, who was Trumps 1 of 2 finalists for VP and Newt has defended Trump for months.
Newt is not bothered about being removed from the inner circle, but those of us who know that Newt is a brilliant modern day patriot who could help Trump, it will not sit well if Trump now shuns Newt for no apparent reason. If Trump doesn't include Newt, it will show his decision making has declined. Unfortunately. Will still vote for Trump, but he needs to make Newt part of his team which he already alluded to in Ohio.
Hell make Newt part of his team as he said—at least so long as Newt is willing. Be patient. Im sure hed prefer to make a big deal out of it and not just list him in a press release with a bunch of people most have never heard of. Id like to see him gradually roll out his list of people he wants to appoint to the cabinet and other important positions with a lot of fanfare. If he does one a week lets say, then hed get a whole lot of free publicity from it.
If Newts just going to be a chief advisor or something more informal like that, he may not make such a big deal of it (though Im sure he wouldnt want even that interfering with his new VP announcement), but hell want to get a lot of press from it if Newts going to be his Secretary of State, Chief of Staff, or any other really noteworthy position. In the meanwhile, Im sure Newt will continue advising Trump behind the scenes, as he has for months. Why wouldnt he?
These appointments are just a fraction of the teams that will be supporting the candidates. An immediate need was filled. Newt might of went a bridge too far with his remarks following the Nice, France attack... then again, there’s time to place Newt in a position best suited for his talents and persona. Time will tell. In reflection, he might have made one too many appearance on television during the VP run up, turned media frenzy, for the Trump team’s comfort level.
