Wow—that post is a tour de force! You hit every point out of the ballpark. In the last analysis, I not only agree with your final observation, I believe it is the key:

There really does seem to be a near pathological need on the part of some Cruz supporters to say, ‘I told you so.’ They’ve already started. If the least thing goes wrong for Trump, they swarm out of the woodwork with a, ‘We tried to warn you!’ chorus. If, to the utter devastation of America, Hillary were to win, the hardest-core Cruz supporters would type, ‘I told you so!’ until their fingers actually fell off their hands. It’s sad!
Now that their apparent psychosis has been quantified, I would like for someone to explain ‘why’?
