I think you misunderstood my post.

I replied to:

“The State Department issued a warning back in May for Americans to stay away from tourist attractions in Paris.”

I visited there as a tourist last month.

(It is very profound)

Yeah - it took me a moment to get that you were there as a tourist.

About 8 years ago I met an older gentleman (upper 80’s I suppose). I noted his anchor tattoo and said “I’m guessing you were in the Navy - World War II?”

“Yep.”

Then his wife chimed in “He drove a Higgin’s boat.”

“Oh - the landing craft!”

The old guy was surprised I knew that - “Oh - you’ve heard of them?”

Then his wife chimes in again “Henry was at D-day!”

Henry looked at his wife with a bit of a glare. He obviously didn’t want to talk about it.

I just got up and shook his hand (again) and thanked him for his service.

“So - you said your grandchildren are going to visit. Where are they from?”

I’m glad that your visit was less eventful!

Thank you for explanation - that meaning occurred to me but I re-read and thought you meant you were there Then. Still, incredible place to vist.
