Interesting that Condi Rice was approached. I agree, Pence is a safe choice. The other side would have had a field day with Newt. Pence is cool. His wife is cool. From a cool state. He’s cool cool cool.
I did not. I just remember his quick fold on religious freedom when there was a bunch of threats by the business community in Indiana.
I thought he had a chance to make a stand and it seems to me he crumbled.
The Trump campaign has now indicated that Pence has not as yet been chosen.
But if it is Pence...I am perfectly fine with him, It would be a nod to folks like Cruz and his supporters that Trump is willing to put someone with the same basic beliefs one heartbeat away from the presidency.
I would also be happy with Gingrich. Despite some of his baggage, he is someone who knows the ropes, someone who has gotten major things accomplished, and someone whom I view as loyal American.
“Hillary will have Castro as her VP.”
Fidel or Raul?
As it stands,I now believe Trump is on course for an historic landslide.
In that situation you don’t take a risk for VP,you take a safe pair of hands.
Welcome aboard the Trump train Mr Pence
This episode is giving Trump training in the leaks that he will face from political hacks in his presidency. He better learn to control it, or he will never get anything done.
Looks like the NYT bought the story hook, line and sinker.
I can't help thinking Trump's got something up his sleeve on this.
We'll see.
Lake and surrounding counties of Amish voting at 105%; Marion also overvoting. Much was done in the intervening four years...
Like the best post I've read this week...
Fox saying Trump now postponing VP announcement...
Pence also has midwestern roots and no current Congress beltway stink on him. I’m not a Pence fan but can see why he would be a good pick for Trump.
So what are his trade positions? is he for outsourcing? amnesty? If he is than this pick makes even less sense if your trying to sell MAGA..
Not really relevant. This isn’t primary season. A VP follows the lead of the top of ticket.
National Review has learned that the senator will hold a one-hour private meeting with Indiana governor Mike Pence prior to this Thursdays Indianapolis GOP spring dinner, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech and sit at the governors table. The two first discussed these plans on a phone call last Friday, sources say.
Cruz would love to lock down Pences endorsement, knowing that the governors network could lend him a significant organizational edge in the state just as Scott Walkers did in Wisconsin. But sources say Pence, who loathes Trump, nonetheless has deep concerns about wading into the presidential race amid his own fight for re-election. If Pence doesnt come on board, Cruzs team is planning to deploy its next best option: Walker himself, who is a known commodity in Indiana and will likely be used as a surrogate there.
He wont be alone. There is preliminary talk of Cruz assembling a high-profile team of GOP surrogates and bringing them to Indiana, according to sources familiar with the Cruz campaigns internal deliberations. The goal would be to project unprecedented party unity against Trump with a roster of supporters that, in addition to familiar faces such as Walker and Carly Fiorina, could include Jeb Bush or even Mitt Romney.

Calls to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. are offensive and unconstitutional.

Pence didn't even endorse Trump during the primary. Something seems off with their fast new friendship. Too bad. Obviously Newt and even Sessions were much more loyal to Trump for months.
Pence is my Governor and I am not impressed at all with him. Of course living in the southern part of the state, we don’t hear much about him. He’s done nothing remarkable in his four years here and the word is the Democrat running against him (Greg) is going to beat him this fall.
Pence landed in Teterboro last night.
He seems to be a politician with Tea Party support who's also palatable to the GOP establishment, so Pence may be as good as we could hope for if Trump's goal was to stop the NeverTrump sabotage from within the party. At least he's less liberal than Christie and more reliable than Newt (who sounds to the Right of Reagan one day and to the Left of Clinton the next).
