Either way this was not good for the LEO
Its a sucky situation either way, that wallet could have been a gun. You don’t know.

In New Jersey, I am sure in other states as well, all school employees must pass a back ground check, any felonies would disqualify you from any employment, teacher, janitor, secretary, cafeteria, bus drives, doesn’t matter if you deal with students or not. Any felony would disqualify your employment, any felonies after you have been hired would get you automatically fired. This is standard in many states.
No school district is going to fire you for traffic tickets or minor offenses
If I had to guess, what I think happened was the officer was nervous, approached the car, was told about the gun permit became more nervous, and he and or the other officer gave conflicting commands.
“Let me see your license and gun permit”
“Keep you hands where I can see them,”
Perhaps the Hispanic LEO that shot him was an “Affirmative Action” hire.
Castile should have just followed police orders.
...
That’s probably what this is going to boil down to. The fact that he was shot in the arm tells me the officer feared that he was reaching for a gun.
Also the deceased had been stopped numerous times before. He should have known what to do and what not to do.
