"Studying" Hitler, hmm? Depending on what Maddow means by "studying" she may encounter some rather uncomfortable similitudes to certain characters active in American politics who are not Trump. And since she's chosen the period shortly after Hitler's succession (useless, actually, when trying to understand the man, but it's an easy read), we'll mention a few that come to mind: control of formal state organs by filling them with political party members - see the every department in the Executive for reference, especially State; use of those organs to suppress dissent and accuse political opponents of tax, racial, and ideological crimes - see 0bama's IRS. Trumping up of charges and arrest and detention of political opponents - see 0bama's treatment of certain Western ranchers. Suppression of books and broadcast programs critical of party operations - see the Hate Speech movement. Street violence against political opposition by state-supported thugs - see the BLM and Occupy movements. Deliberate, forcible changes in demographics to support ideological racial goals in Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Russia - see the Open Borders, the Islamic "refugee" importations, and the illegal immigration amnesty movement. A monopoly on the print and broadcast media by state operators and sympathizers - see the entire U.S. media of the last 10 years. Exploitation of state intelligence materials to support party goals - see Hillary, from the FBI files through the State Department email scandals. Expropriation of public funds to support party members in luxury - see 0bama's vacations, his 40-vehicle motorcades, and Hillary's regal lifestyle. Formation of armed, violent paramilitary movements within the state bureaucracy for party discipline - see the SS while considering how many Executive departments now possess SWAT teams.

Lots to see here, Rachel, lots to learn. Best of luck in your studies and yes, you'd look good in a Totenkopf SS uniform yourself.

Well, I studied Hitler for a completely different reason than Maddow.

As someone that was doing a fair amount of public speaking at the time, studying how Hitler controlled his audience with his cadence, tone and body language was fascinating.

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that 0bama also studied Hitlers speaking style. There are many similarities particularly during 0bama’s Presidential runs.
