Wouldn’t it be odd if Pence were selected and lost IN for Trump the way Governor Agnew did his own MD for Nixon in 1968?

It would be very odd, and highly unlikely. Pence does fine in Indiana, and Indiana's overall temperament is more conservative than Maryland (then or now). Even though Indiana is not a huge state, that state along with Kentucky closes the polls first in the U.S., and when Trump wins IN going away, it may have a positive influence on the folks still voting in NV, NM, OR, WA, CA and CO.
