President Obama joined the chorus of Democrats calling for the creation of a government run health insurance program as Obamacare is facing growing problems.
In an article published Monday in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the president called for Congress to revisit the "public option" for Obamacare in areas where few insurers offer coverage.
"Some parts of the country have struggled with limited insurance market competition for many years, which is one reason that, in the original debate over health reform, Congress considered and I supported including a Medicare-like public plan," Obama wrote in the piece.
A public option would mean a government run health insurance plan.

Thank God we have a printed, fiat, unbacked currency, and a Federal Reserve to create all this debt at manipulated interest rates - or progressives/leftists would never be able to run their many big government, political, social-engineering schemes.
Let’s see...Paul Ryan has a speaking slot at the convention next week. This couldn’t have been timed better! He can wax eloquently (at least, as well as Ryan can wax) on this horrendous idea of Obama’s.
Oh, it’s all lip service on Ryan’s part - just sound and fury signifying nothing for the voters back home (he’s in trouble, BTW). Then he’ll return back to Washington and do nothing.
Low income = Medicaid
Just, WOW. Even the most cynical amongst us couldn’t have foreseen this—it’s almost like it was designed to fail.

Golly gee, shazzam, shazzam, WHO saw THIS coming??!!

Everybody. Private insurers won’t be able to compete with the government which can steal more and more money from the taxpayers.
I will not vote for Hillary. Probably vote for Trump.
Been a conservative all my life.
Here goes:
We are the only county in western civilization that does not have a government run health care system.
Every time if visit Canada (5 so far) I ask everyone who I am talking to, (bar, B&B, winery, anywhere) how do you, as a Canadian citizen like your health care system. Everyone, I repeat everyone, loves their healthcare system. They admit they pay for it in taxes, but they love it.
If anyone here responding is on Medicare, (not Medicaid) you have the best healthcare insurance of anyone in this country. It is government run.
Just my thoughts.
flame away
Before Obamacare, no one in this country was without needed health care. Hospitals were required by law to treat indigent patients.
“Before Obamacare, no one in this country was without needed health care. Hospitals were required by law to treat indigent patients. “
Technically true, but the care was more treat symptoms, not root cause. I saw that happen with someone and after the 3rd trip to the ER, they finally got root cause taken care of. A strange issue with the gall bladder of all things.
You may have a point there. Or, as my Daddy used to put it, the sugar is flaking off the turd faster than expected.
And this a great BIG PUMP for massive immigration .....and immigrants will vote for their “liberal” benefactors
Ha, ha, ha. As we have been saying here for a long time, nobamacare is just a step towards government run health care.
The saving grace is that nobama won’t get this done during the remaining days of his monarchy.
Another way of expressing this is that nobamacare didn’t collapse as fast as he thought it would.
“This government, which can’t even get the website up, running a plan with 330 million participants? No way. NO WAY! “
If it is run state by state it might work. State exchanges seem to have worked better than the fed monster with obamacare.
We already have a national government run health care system: the VA system. The patient wait times and quality of care are as expected.
The public will be given the option they've wanted since before the Death Panels became law: to not have Obamacare destroying their economy, health insurance, and liberty.
“We already have a national government run health care system: the VA system. The patient wait times and quality of care are as expected. “
The problem there is the separate but equal idea. Vets should be given a card and go to get medical care where everyone else does. The single payer is more about who pays the bill than who does the work.
Guess it depends whether your state is Vermont or California.
