It was good, but hot! When I went 2 years ago, we stopped at a lot of the restored gas stations. This year was a mishmash of things. I did make a quick detour to the Lincoln Tomb. Funk’s Grove wasn’t an official stop this year either, but I stopped and got some syrup anyway; saw some others doing the same.
Got a ketchup bottle hat pin, so I was thrilled with that! Had seen the tower on my own the first trip, but there were people this time with info about its history.
The first night stop was Litchfield; was going to go to Ariston Cafe but it was PACKED, so went to Jubelt’s instead.
Last stop on Sunday was Towanda; and YES, Palm Grill was our lunch stop! Or rather, Atlanta was, and you could eat wherever you wanted. I think most everyone chose the Palm. LOL. I had a Rueben sandwich but no pie.
I’m thinking the next trip I take for Route 66 in IL might not be during the tour; there’s so much to see and it’s hard to do when 100 people go piling in pretty much at once. And there’s still restaurants I haven’t tried yet, like Cozy Dog and Rite Maid....
Trump VEEP announcement scheduled for 11:00AM on Friday.
Eleven Am Friday. Set your D V D.
Thank you for the update. Now I remember you telling me earlier, about stopping at Funk’s Grove. You spelled syrup the way they spell it- sirup. About this time of year, they start running out of their supply.
I think you are on to something, in the idea of going without the company of a tour, as you motor about RT 66.
Thanks for the reply.
