Many years ago in a large city in WV, I had just parked the roadie truck I drove for a R&R band and was walking home.

It was about 5 or 6 AM and a cop pulled up beside me and got out, hand on gun and asked me who I was and where was I coming from (or going to ... I forget)

I'd been smokin' dope most of the night so I knew enough about yes sir/no sir and applied that wisdom proportionately.

I was arrested, brought to the local.

I appeared before the magistrate later that morning.

The magistrate began by detailing a crime that had been committed the night before and explained I looked like the suspect the eye-witness saw, but while in a detective room (earlier, with one way glass) I was not identified, and the magistrate apologized to me.

I was released and I went about my way.

Just like we know to stop, drop and roll ... we should also know stop, yes sir, no sir.

Since you have all the details, what was the alleged crime?
