Dallas police used bomb robot to kill shooting suspect
By James Rogers Published July 08, 2016 FoxNews.com
Dallas police used an explosive device attached to a robot to kill a suspect in the coordinated sniper attack that killed five officers Thursday, in what experts say is a first for law enforcement.
In a press conference Police Chief David Brown explained that the robot was deployed on the second floor of El Centro College in downtown Dallas following a standoff early Friday.
We cornered one suspect and we tried to negotiate for several hours - negotiations broke down, we had an exchange of gunfire with the suspect, he said. We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was, he said.
Brown explained that other options would have exposed the police officers to great danger.
The police chief confirmed that the suspect was killed by the bombs detonation, noting that reports the suspect killed himself were inaccurate.

Well, I guess I am clueless in that area.
Can you fill me in? As I often say: ‘ignorance is not a sin; staying that way is’.
I now get the feeling I’m going to regret today’s exchange, but I’m ready when you are.
One question ... Were you there?
Do you support cops executing suspects they are certain/pretty sure/think/have a hunch are guilty of a crime?
Weapon used to execute perp/suspect makes no difference, it is the act, not the device, that is heinous.
Do you know what a “stuned beeber” is?
No. Never heard of it.
I'm not sure if I should have loads of fun with you, or just explain it. :)
Do I get to pick?
You DO know who "Laz" is, don't you?
Yes, I know of Laz. He probably would not allow me to pick, I would guess.
That’s coming! We have the most popular sports radio station in the country here. The liberal hosts were saying they were being tested by people who knew the shooter telling them he had PTSD. Idiots immediately adopted it as fact - as if it even matters.
I've no problem with the cops using lethal force in the event of a probable perp resisting arrest while using a lethal weapon himself.
If one wants due process, one must first surrender.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. The perp had stated he had bombs in place. Negotiations had ended. Should the police have waited until he started blowing people up with cell phone triggered bombs?
Good riddance to rubbish.
al baby is a FR entity similar to Laz.
I liken him to the sardonic ee cummings of Free Republic. He doesn't need me to defend him - quite the contrary. I was just doing a riff on Christopher Walken in the movie Joe Dirt, in honor of al baby's numerous accomplishments on FR.
In the following links, note the prominence of "stuned", "beeber" & "stuned beeber", and that mostly everyone knows exactly what is referred to.
The first link is the original thread. :)

I trust that the police would have deployed a cell phone disruptor after the first half hour of the cornering.
If someone's shooting at you, trying to kill you, you can do whatever it takes to stop them. That's the reality.
Whatever you do, DON'T look at post 297 on that thread...
Because they are illegal to everybody other than the Fed’s?

Furthermore, to state that cell phone jammers advertised are “[f]or [e]xport [o]nly. USA customers must be authorized Law Enforcement and/or Gov. [sic] Agency approved.” Section 302(c) of the Act and Section 2.807(d) of the Rules exempt radio frequency devices intended for use by the federal government from the general prohibition on marketing of unauthorized equipment. However, there is no similar exemption allowing the marketing or sale of unauthorized radio frequency devices to state and local law enforcement agencies.
What's this "illegal" you speak of? LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
Did you oversleep on July 5?
