"I dont understand why this demographic is so prone to violence and is generally a laggard in all economic categories"
Don't generalize. I have read about studies done of how black immigrants from Nigeria and elsewhere on the African continent are doing exceedingly well in America. Just like many classes of legal immigrants. This many times is a phenomenon of blacks who are born and raised in America. I think it's a combination of not having fathers and/or mothers and the race pimps like Sharpton who preach their bile and fill them with rage over their hopeless situation. I know it was just a TV show, but I thought 'The Wire', a series on HBO about 10 years ago really shed light on what the inner city ghettos of Baltimore are like.

“blacks who are born and raised in America”
This is the demographic to which I was referring.

As an Engineering Manager years ago, I hired a NIgerian engineer ( he was actually the son of an Ibo Chief). He had a Masters in Engineering from UC Berkeley, and was exceedingly bright and well-educated. What was really fun to watch was when we went to a local “Black Barbeque Joint” for lunch and watched him try to “communicate” with the owner of the place. The King’s English and local vernacular didn’t compute with either of them.

The off shoring of manufacturing has contributed greatly to the lack of wealth creation and lack of opportunity to Americans with less than average IQ and motivation. Globalization sucks. We are paying the price.
