After 2+ hours of engaging this guy, the police wisely decided to risk no more police lives AND to save Texas taxpayers millions of dollars in prosecuting him and waiting decades before giving him the needle, a far too humane way to go.

I don't get where this guy was hauled up that a SWAT sniper could not get him?

I think I read that he claimed he had a bomb on him or near him. So in that context using a robo-bomb was to stop a human suicide bomber. If that is an accurate thing I read then it was a judicious use of bomb force.
