Do you ever see law-abiding suburbanites making the news because they mouthed off to a cop making a stop and wound up toes up, assuming room temperature? Rarely. The ones that do are the urban ferals that cannot seem to exist in a civilized society with the rest of us. It is THIS type of behavior that escalates to a cop pulling his gun.

I have a lead foot and have been pulled over before. I NEVER expected to have anything happen because I listened to the officer in question and complied with his requests. It is the behavior of those being pulled over or stopped with a Rock of Gibralter size chip on their shoulders at the outset and a smart-@ss mouth that just pours gasoline on an already incendiary situation to which I was referring.

No, they drive up and seconds later shoot a teen carrying an airsoft rifle. Then later make up stories about calls from citizens about someone firing a rifle in the area, then admit that there were no such calls, but the killing of the boy was okay as it was within policy to shoot someone with a 75% scale replica with a bright orange tip because 'he might have pointed it at the deputy.'

I have a lead foot and have been pulled over before. I NEVER expected to have anything happen because I listened to the officer in question and complied with his requests. The problem is that the force escalation tree is now bending over from the weight of deadly force acceptance. I have no problem with an officer pulling a gun and getting ready in case something happens. I have every problem with them pulling the trigger when there is not a life threatening situation with the excuse 'it might have turned out that way.' Cops shoot to kill, it is their training, keep firing until they are no longer a danger. That means if things spiral for WHATEVER reason, the present use of force theories say kill first, work out the excuse afterwards.

This is a problem. It doesn't matter if it is an urban or rural or suburban area; these lessons are constantly expanding, as most officers are being trained in high danger urban areas, having those reactions instilled, then getting nice calm jobs in areas around the country where those reactions are entirely uncalled for.
