According to Jim Quinn (radio announcer), he told the officer before the shooting he had a CC permit. The news stations ran with it, but the Sheriff denied he had ever applied for one. He lied. I think this was an attempt at an ambush.

AUdio recordings reveal that he didn't say that (at least while the recording was on). It did record Diamond saying that. I have seen an article where she now denies saying it.

There is still no one who will say he had a CC.
