My job rarely allowed me to just call in “sick,” unless I was actually too ill to get out of bed or away from the bathroom. We had the concept of “mental health days” but if you were actually doing something of real-time importance they had to be coordinated.
Now that I’m retired, they’re all mental health days.
I don’t get to call in sick unless I am hospitalized.... I haven’t taken a sick day in over 10 years. If they are too emotionally fragile to deal with the job they should seek other employment
I used to tell my people, when you're dead, you will get all the sleep you want!
40 plus years and only three sick days.
One day, I would have gone in, but I wasn't getting on the train without my own toilet! And a bunch of lost time RVN (workplace violence?)
Had a paid vacation, but some years could not get away, just put it on the check.
