I hate that keep your hands where the cop can see them stuff. It presumes a subservience owed by the citizen to the public servant. Now they have started shining blinding flood lights into your car whether you have the dome on or not.
I’m a middle aged white woman so I have white privilege. No cop assumes I am a threat. Yet.

That’s not subservience. Its politeness and commons sense. Maybe it’ll help you to think of it as an original salute, showing that your hands are empty.
But if it makes you feel better, assert your dominance. You show em who’s boss. lol
The police themselves advise their friends and family to do this. It simply means that you know the routine and are not a threat
