I know damn well you don’t know jack. She’s another disgruntled ex-employee. She was talking a lot of leftie trash last time I saw her on FOX, and she’s tried the “sexual harassment” trick before on Steve Doocey.
My guess is that Andrea Tantaros is going legal against Fox also. Her twitter feed has dwindled, and she is mum on requests to get back on the air.
All is not well over there on Fox, but who is going to watch CNN or MSNBC?
As for Carlson, yes it’s about respect not shown to her. Like Kelly Ripen. Nothing will come of it.
My guess is that your guess is wrong.
I’m very sorry to hear that.
“sounds like assault with a dead weapon” I’ll have to remember that one. If I can. Hell I’m older than Roger.
Hmmm. I may have to give them another chance...
Isn't she still on a mandated time out?
Not GUILTY!
That wasn't one time. That was a couple of times everyday.
I don’t buy it. If Ailes was and ornery old codger with the staff, there’s plenty of prettier fruit to pick from.
Why reach for the wilted one?
The rumors about MeAgain Kelly may turn out to be true.
I remember when it appeared all of Fox employees were ordered to defend MeAgain, which they did. I don’t remember Gretchen or Andrea T. saying anything.
If the men at Fox News are leches who can’t control themselves you’d think there would be a number of other Fox News babes filing suits. Are we to believe that Gretchen was the one and only woman there they wanted to grope?
“Why reach for the wilted one?”
The only one he could catch?
“Ant Roger Ailes about 100 years old.”
Well he’s 76, and so am I, nearly. But that’s where the similarity ends. No “dead weapons” here. Ailes is a fat turd, and while I’m not a fan of Carlson, I hope, if what he did proves to be true, that she takes him for a huge chunk of his (and FNC’s) change.
O.K.
I see. My guess is your guess that my guess is wrong is wrong.
I’ve only seen Carlson a few times-I’m usually not yet home from work at that time of day-but I thought she was annoying and bitchy and seemed to have ego issues-whenever a guest didn’t agree with her, she looked like she was about to go off on them-I half expected her to get in their face and yell “do you know who I AM”? I suppose her contract was up for renewal and she asked for more money than Fox thought her magnificence was worth...
I would also expect a “tell all” book about the “horrors” inside Fox News, etc. This lawsuit may just be an advanced marketing campaign for it.
I doubt that a book of hers would be a best seller-her favorite subject on her show appeared to be herself-how she played a musical instrument-I think a violin-how she was a big-time beauty queen, etc-she didn’t have much substance...
Exactly, and here’s what is (probably) the “rest of the story,” as Paul Harvey used to say.
Ms. Carlson joined Fox News 11 years ago, after getting dumped from the Saturday Early Show at CBS. She was competent enough to fill a weekend time slot, but CBS never had any interest in promoting her to a weekday broadcast, or letting her substitute on the evening newscast.
So, she decamped to Fox, and became a co-anchor on “Fox and Friends” after that show became the #1 morning program in cable news. A few years later, Ms. Carlson announced that she had grown tired of the a.m. grind and requested a transfer to a later shift. When Megyn Kelly moved to prime time, Carlson got the 2 pm slot.
From what I hear, Carlson’s program is the lowest-rated among FNC’s daytime line-up. I’m guessing her contract was up and Ailes wasn’t planning to renew it. So, Ms. Carlson creates a story about sexual harassment by Roger Ailes and makes it look like her only choice was leaving the network.
Make no mistake: Roger Ailes has made some comments that might be considered borderline sexist in the past, including is famous line (repeated often by Rush) that FNC “grows” its blonde anchors on bikini island. But if Ailes had any history of sexual harassment, he wouldn’t last long in today’s TV business. He’s a very powerful man —earns at least $20 million a year. I don’t think he would risk that by harassing one of his female anchors.
I’m guessing there are no recordings or any way to confirm these conversations—just her word against his. It has been widely reported that some of Rupert Murdoch’s family who work at News Corp don’t like Ailes and would be glad to dump him. But Murdoch is very much in charge of his empire and he knows how much FNC adds to the bottom line. Assuming there isn’t a smoking gun in this case, I think Roger Ailes will remain the network chairman as long as he chooses to stay in that job.
One more note: Carlson’s husband is one of the top sports agents in New York. He’s a guy who knows how to play the media to put management/ownership in a bad light. I’m not saying he is behind her claims; in fact, I don’t think he represents her. But if she needs advice on hardball tactics, she doesn’t have to look beyond the other side of her bed.
Carlson will lose; she’ll wind up at CNN or MSNBC, or one of the local stations in NYC. FNC has plenty of capable anchors for the 2 pm slot and they won’t miss a beat—or Gretchen Carlson.
