If you think that's bad, you should see what the normally semi-sensible Swiss have done with their national anthem. They felt that an anthem with words like "We feel blessed when dawn breaks over the mountain tops" (or something like that) doesn't resonate with their young people, so they're scrapping the old anthem and replacing it with some doggerel about sustainable development and equality.
