Right - just because the taxpayers aren't being forced to pay for some researcher's salary "science has been stopped dead in its track". I guess it never occurred to them that they could work on whatever they wanted to on their own time, or find somebody else to pay for the research.
It isn't science that was stopped, just issue driven pseudo research by activists who want to get paid by the taxpayers instead of finding their own funding.
