Wrong, If as it seams this was an Accident, Do you not think the mental torture would not be enough? Where is the Intent which would be the purpose of the Jail you ask for?

I have no problem with it being investigated but if there is nothing other than an accident, You Don’t Jail someone for that.

There does not need to be intent for a charge of Involuntary manslaughter.

All there needs to be is reckless behavior.

I’m sure the father will be punishing himself for this for the rest of his life.

An accident is something that could not be prevented.

If you see a coiled up electric cord on the stairs you should move it because it might cause an accident if somebody else trips over it.

If you don’t move it and somebody trips and gets hurt it wasn’t an accident because it could have been prevented by the person not leaving it there or you when you noticed.

In this case it was hot brass. Many, many shooters have had hot brass go unexpected places. But we don’t forget gun safty going after it.

Actually you do.

Accidents where people run others over, by accident, can still be jailed for vehicular manslaughter.

A true accident has no negligence in it. This scenario has plenty of negligence in it. You put the damn gun down first before doing anything else.
