I think the FBI still retains a large contingent of honorable people who will not shirk in their duty regardless of how politically unpalatable it is.

They have families. Mortgages. Kids in school. Retirement plans. They know the Congress will not have their back and half the electorate does not care. If the b*tch wins anyway their careers will be toast. Most will just opt to keep their heads down and let this cup pass.

That is indeed the prospect they may face, but I think a lot of them are made out of pretty stern stuff. You have to be a pretty impressive individual to become an FBI agent, and I imagine the bulk of them live up to the image.
