I have a close friend who is a fellow retiree from the plant we worked for in Detroit who has been working for the TSA at the airport in St. Petersburg, FL for the past 9 years.
He says the system is totally screwed up and the majority of screeners he works with are complete idiots.........
As a side note, their pay is ridiculously low and their hours are limited....
Back in 2008, just for the heck of it, I applied to the TSA for employment and went thru the several hours of testing. As part of the application, you can request which airport you would like to work at so I wrote down the airport in Tampa, which is where my buddy lives.
Several months later I got a call from them asking if I was willing to be interviewed for a position at the Tampa airport and I told them I wasn't ready to make that decision. They said ok and that they would hold my application for a period of time and contact me again. Well they did at the end of that period and I told them I wasn't interested in the job.
They were only going to pay approx. $11 per hour for about 5 hours per day and I wasn't about to move from Michigan to Florida for that kind of a job. Besides, I really wasn't interested in going back to work anywhere since I was retired.
If I was already living in the Tampa area, that would have been a great part time job for me as a retiree..........
Interesting. This helps explain why they attract mostly drones.
