Business owner knows the rules, but chooses to break them.

City stuck with either making them take it down, or possibly facing legal consequences for selective enforcement.

All are equal under the law.

If they allowed this one to be up past time, any other business owner could argue that they should be allowed to have their banner up longer.

Then they are back to having trashy banners all over the place.

BTW, I make my living selling banners and t-shirts and the like.

I am also on my HOA board and PID board. You can’t just pick and choose what rules you are going to enforce, just because you like or don’t like what the sign says.

Aw, Crusher, why are you ruining everyone’s fun by being logical and reasonable?

P.S. I totally agree with you.

Because rules always respect rights, and therefore must be accepted without challenge. All hail the rulemakers.

"Business owner knows the rules, but chooses to break them."

If the President and his entire administration break rules, laws and ignore the Constitution constantly why can't "We The People" follow his example?. Are we to be held to a higher standard those those who rule over us?

Saw this once on FR...

“For those who think tyranny is dead they need only to observe and HOA in action to disabuse themselves of that notion!”

So true. Having no law is better than having a bad law.
Some of the “rules” are just ridiculous.
I live in an HOA that will have 1,070 home sites at “build out.” Having a rule that requires 80% to be present at a meeting to change rules is absurd. Thirty per cent never come out of their homes! (Witness Protection Plan)

No, perhaps not. But, since you are on those boards, you can pick and choose what rules need to be there and what ones don’t.

Stupid rules, regulations and laws need to be removed and/or revoked.

That would be news to Gandhi, ML King, and the whole “Peaceful Protest Through Civil-Disobedience” movement of the past 60 years or so.
