Martha Stewart is a very interesting case. They couldn't get her for insider trading, which she was probably guilty of, not enough evidence. But they did convict her of a process crime, lying to an FBI agent, thereby obstructing justice.
Did it work? On some levels it was a twofer. Everybody thinks they sent Martha Stewart to jail for insider trading, so you have that example. Those who know might also think twice about lying to an FBI agent and creating a crime when all they have to do is keep their mouths shut.
Did it scare Hillary and her minions into doing the right thing? Surely you jest.
