There were many opportunities for the "peaceful" Muslims to unconditionally denounce islamic terrorism without the moral equivalencies and "whataboutisms" they're notorious for. Even IF they started doing so at this point they'd have a looooong way to go to gain any credibility.

So long as surveys come back with murder in defense of insults to Allah come back with the vast majority agreeing to it, it will never happen. Why would they turn on their own warriors. Even when you pin them down, they'll say the warrior should have used different methods.

Instead, we here the same 'we denounce this senseless act of terror' platitude. Call us when you eject people from your mosque for watching videos of Iman's saying it is just fine to beat women. That'd be a very nice start.
