The time when the pledge was made has nothing to do with the point I was making. That simply is that if the pledge is to support the nominee, the pledgor cannot be in violation of the pledge until there is in fact a nominee. Once a candidate has become the official party nominee, then, if the pledgors do not support him, they will be in violation of their pledge; but not before then.
