I believe it is pretty obvious voters are uniting behind Trump. It is the party elite and the losers who are not.
They will not, it appears, unless Trump promises them that things can go on as is, that they will not lose their gravy train, their open borders and disastrous trade.
You seem to think the party elite are honorable people that he should cater to.
Thanks for your reply.
I believe the reality is it’s more intertwined than that.
I think the elected officials, they are part of the party, they have constituents.. there are leaders at the local level, there are rank and file.. There are GOP voters.
It’s not a correct assessment to make it a monolith.

I hope so, but I’m not sure.
But that’s the main job, rank and file. Though those in leadership positions have power as well, e.g., a state legislator has an organization that can be effective in targeting and getting out the vote. The same for a congressman, senator, governor.
I went through the internecine wars of Bush/Ford/Reagan in the party. Bridges had to be rebuilt to be successful in elections.
In very general terms, winning an election is unifying a majority of voters behind your candidacy. The first and most imporant group is those within the party whom you are the nominee of.
