Years ago on FR a poster put up a picture of the FAA reassembled Air liner.
It struck me that the Center fuel tank, pictured, was imploded inward. I spent a couple of years when I was a kid blowing things up, I noticed that explosions in confined spaces always blow out.
...
First of all, the initial explosive force went through a hole or holes in front of the tank. Any other damage came from subsequent breakup and impact with the water.
Second of all, people have posted a similar picture recently. We don’t know the authenticity, or exactly what’s pictured. The center wing tank is a large structure, and there are many possible different views.
The Picture I saw was years ago. In my experience when thing go Boom, the force expands 360. I don’t care how many holes you have, you are going to get global deformation.
