How about old phrases as well?
My mother used to always say “Go jump in the lake” meaning “Get Lost”.
When she was at the Alzheimers Care Unit, the nurses remarked how puzzled they were when she told them to “GO JUMP IN THE LAKE”!!!
There is actually a book of supposed seldom used words and phrases and their backstories, which I got for Christmas. The title of the book is : LET'S BRING BACK THE LOST LANGUAGE.
the funny thing about it is, I still say most of the things in the book. ;^)
