MONESSEN, Pa. (AP) -- Donald Trump called for a new era of economic "Americanism" Tuesday, promising to restore millions of lost factory jobs by backing away from decades of U.S. policy that encouraged trade with other nations - a move that could undermine the country's place as the dominant player in the global economy.
The speech marked a significant break from years of Republican Party advocacy for unencumbered trade between nations, and drew immediate condemnation from GOP business leaders.

Our ENTIRE LEADERSHIP has been sold out on the issue of globalism, for the entire last generation.
TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP. Get Ryno off the stage. WE WON!!
[a move that could undermine the country’s place as the dominant player in the global economy]
I don’t think so. Re-read MEGA-TRENDS.
America first! Go Trump!
I remember exactly how we got to this point.
Ross Perot.
In a desperate bid to stop Perot BOTH parties embraced what Perot was against (free trade). And have been stuck defending it ever since.
I cast my first vote for Perot. And I will proudly say ... PEROT WAS RIGHT!
Free Trade KILLED AMERICAN JOBS!
or in Perot’s words. Free trade resulted in a “giant sucking sound”. That sound being all the US jobs being sucked away overseas.
Trump told us about Brussels, he told us about Paris, he warned us that this could happen in the U.S. and it did, San Bernadino, and Orlando, Florida...and now today it happened in Turkey...how many more times are people going to ignore this man who knows what he is talking about?
You don't become a multi billionaire, world famous and not know jack crap now do you?
I was also for Perot.
That has been widely ridiculed here of FR, but I am proud to have stood for America back then. Even if a lot of people here (and other places) have been strongly critical of Perot.
Perot was right.
Even if somewhat less than a huge vote-getter. Trump is far more well-spoken.
And Trump is in the GOP. Everything is favorable this time around.
“...lose the countrys place as the dominant player in the global economy...”
That means the dominant “provider” in the global economy...What the h*ll has it done for America?????
Lost jobs...Lost businesses...Lost sales...Lost stature...
Dominant player, my a$$..........
Back then it was all theoretical on free trade so many were not sure Perot was right. We were told by Repubs and Dems globalization (another name for free trade) that was starting in the 90s would be a tide to life all boats. It is clear that it failed to lift all boats.
Yeah...All these “professional politicians” know more about business than Trump....
They are all for their gravy train...They don’t give a good healthy crap about you or I or any real working American...
“The speech marked a significant break from years of Republican Party advocacy for unencumbered trade between nations....”
because we figured out it wasn’t unencumbered trade but a complex systems of bribes and foreign tax free investments for the ruling elite of both parties.
I am glad Donald Trump is campaigning on this issue and educating people.
“unencumbered trade between nations”
Now that is hot one from the msm. How about America getting screwed trade deals. That is what Trump is against.
Well.... there is Hillary. She is all 3 of those.
Buchanan is a big anti-semite.
Perot chose a running make who although was once a big hero, should have been in the the old folks home (Stockdale).
Perot also went “nuts” about helicopters that bush sent to ruin his daughter’s wedding.
All these things took a toll, and is why they lost.
Sure. Perot was also a gun grabber. But he was correct of trade and the national debt. Trump is a better person to represent similar ideas. Trump is running against the very ideas the GOP helped to push the US into, NAFTA, mass immigration, etc.
Now that is hot one from the msm. How about America getting screwed trade deals. That is what Trump is against.
