OMG in CA. we pay 2.89 right now and THAT is cheap!!!

Governors have to pay the bills.
The general Republican approach to taxes is deeply corrupt, and has been for years.
Taxes FOLLOW expenditures. The problem isn’t “raising taxes”. Tax increases are CAUSED by spending, and tax CUTS have to derive from decreases in spending.
Of course, cutting spending is unpopular, while cutting taxes isn’t. But if you do the spending, or if you sign the union contracts, then you have to raise the taxes.
So, as far as NJ goes, what’s the big deal?

All by himself? Amazing.
NJ has the lowest or 2nd lowest gas tax in the country. I wonder if this increase brings it to anywhere near its neighboring states’ gas taxes?

GREAT JOB Christy right before the election!!! Are you just BRAIN DEAD??? Please take another arm in arm walk with Obammie!!!
To: EDINVA
He agreed to it and will sign, rather than veto it. Why shouldn’t NJ and all states have lower gas taxes?

When have they ever raised a tax and lowered another and the people keep more money AND the state takes in more money to deal with whatever they raised taxes for in the first place?
It is hugely offensive this creature lies to our faces and expects we believe it.

If Gov. Christie would follow the conservative fiscal policies of Wisconsin's Gov. Walker, he'd have the trifecta; reduce spending, cut taxes and replace the states deficit with a surplus.
Conservative tax policy works every time its tried.

No, tax “policy” is a sham and a delusion.
Taxes pay for spending. When they don’t, you have printed money, borrowed money and debt.
It’s all about the spending.

NJ is one of the worst, but there is no escaping that we will get hit one way or another. If not gas tax, estate or sales or restaurant or cigarette or alcohol tax. And I think the “sin” taxes have reached their max for now.

Not a word about how it will affect the lower paid workers who have to drive to work much more than the well off.

“Supposed” to replace part of sales tax. Next year, after NJ residents buy all their gas in lower priced states, they’ll reinstate the sales tax.
