Anytime you see information on the tuition for a given institution, you have to know what percentage received financial aid, and how much they got. Typically when you see one of those “Ten most Expensive Universities in America” compilations you will see Brown at or near the top. One year I saw that they were in the low sixties for annual tuition, but then also learned how much financial aid they gave out. So, it’s just like pricing airline seats, everyone pays, net-net, a different price. I suppose the only student at Brown paying “full boat” prices is the son of a Saudi Prince. Everyone else gets some kind of deal, making the rankings of the “most expensive schools in America” a joke.
