If his parents failed him they will live with it. Drugs are almost never a solitary form of destruction. Other people live with the addiction and results.

Johnny is a selfish fool who apparently needs to hit bottom before he has to get fixed. That is unlikely to happen until he runs out of money and co-dependent enablers.

Exactly. Once the money’s gone, the posse will be gone, and the girls will be gone. He’ll have no one left to turn to but his family or criminal activity to support his habit.

Sometimes a bottom can manifest through earthly circumstances, and sometimes through moral realization before God. Sometimes several bottoms have to be reached.

We need to abandon the idea of a set-and-forget life on a self willed cruise control as it were. Life was intended by God to be a dynamic relationship between a person and God. God constantly thinks about the person; it is unseemly for the person not to attempt to return the favor.
