Given that he recently had the embarrassment of having his Twitter and Pinterest accounts hacked, it is really no surprise to learn that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is taking some additional security measures after he accidentally revealed he tapes over the camera and microphone of his laptop.
Celebrating Instagram's announcement Tuesday that it had grown to 500 million users, Zuckerberg posted a photo of himself at his desk with a cardboard cutout of the Instagram interface. Here's the photo:

he tapes over the camera Doesn't everyone? (Although some of my co-workers used yellow stickies, I preferred the tape since it allows a blurry image to get through so that it doesn't trigger automatic alerts that the camera isn't functioning. )

Remotely, one can open webcam and speaker.
Lot of web meeting software and plugin comes with default webcam on. So its better to tape it.

There’s a little light that comes on when my camera is on

Same here. And I put a little piece of black masking tape over the camera on the screen side of my cell phone.
