The referendum is non-binding. The legislators will delay revising the legislation, which runs some 100,000 pages. Minimum time to implement exit was estimated to be two years.

There will be a revote until the people vote to stay in, at which point the issue will be finally decided.

The point of the vote was not to decide the issue, it was to give dissatisfied people a way to vent their anger.

By reminding everyone that the vote was advisory only and it does not have binding authority to force Parliament to vote on leaving the EU.
