Even allowing that Ringo was barely a singer...

Not to mention barely a drummer ;-)

I love Ringo....he’s my fourth fave Beatle.

As a former drummer, I will tell you that almost all drummers I know think Ringo is a great drummer. He had an amazing “drag” where he was just enough behind the beat to add this weird soul. I didn’t know until recently that he was left handed, and that all his rolls are exactly backwards. Still, guitarists and others don’t think he’s any good-—because they expect a lot of flash. But Ringo knew every single beat in the world-—cha cha, Jamaican-—and his line on “Tomorrow Never Knows” is still a classic. I learned to drum from Ringo by putting on records, and could eventually play anything from rock to a waltz to cha cha.
